Finca Rosa Blanca strives to have a positive social and environmental impact with a commitment to not just sustainability but also regeneration. The hotel has been awarded ‘Elite’ level in its Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST), together with a 5 out of 5 ranking from the Blue Ecological Flag program for its work in mitigation, reduction, and consciousness about trying to reverse Climate Change. Initiatives like solar-powered electricity and solar-heated water, a chemical-free ionized swimming pool, an ambitious plan of recycling and regeneration, and avoiding toxic chemicals support the property in minimizing its negative impact on the environment. With a focus on regeneration, Finca Rosa Blanca has planted more than 5,000 native trees in the past 25 years and was one of the first carbon-neutral hotels in Costa Rica. Additionally, training is in place to educate staff, guests and the community on environmental preservation, as well as promoting social education and environmental justice. The hotel’s employees are 100% local to directly benefit its immediate neighbors.
