Hotel Senda Monteverde

As members of the award-winning Cayuga Collection of Sustainable Luxury Hotels & Lodges, Hotel Senda Monteverde aims to positively impact local communities and live in harmony with its cloud forest surroundings, one of the world´s rarest ecosystems! In Senda´s beginnings, 5,500 native plants and trees were planted to bring neglected land back to life and presently, staff partner up with the Monteverde Forest Clean Up project to keep the surroundings in their best condition. Each guest makes a small contribution to the protection of the neighboring cloud forest and is granted access to the Aguti Wildlife Reserve, which the hotel also helps to conserve. The property´s sustainability mantra is to keep it as local as possible, with an all Costa Rican staff, and locally sourced art, organic food produce, and bathroom amenities. Everyday sustainability practices look like solar panel-heated water, fully biodegradable cleaning products, and a no plastic policy with reusable bottles available.
