Four Seasons Papagayo

Peninsula Papagayo, Guanacaste

Bask in sheer luxury at the Four Seasons, one of the best luxury hotels in Costa Rica, where a collection of exceptional guest rooms, suites, and villas scatter over the tip of the Papagayo Peninsula. Rolling into the property´s 45-acres of dry tropical forest, you´ll feel the pacifying powers of Mother Nature start to work their magic.

The interiors, inspired by mesmerizing surroundings, showcase natural materials like local lava rock, stone, and the bamboo-esque cana brava. Wake up to your daily dose of tranquility with a perfect curation of balmy sea breeze, lush verdant flora, and the sounds of howler monkeys swinging through the trees. Take a deep breath and relax.

Ideal For: Costa Rica luxury resort, hotel fine dining & bars, in-house activities

  • Why we love it
  • Highlights
  • Sustainability

We loved how we instantly felt taken care of with that luxury hospitality the Four Seasons is known for. This is one of the country´s top hotels; flanked by golden-sand beaches, five restaurants (which serve some of our favorite dishes in Costa Rica!), a vibrant bar scene, and loads of complementary activities like rum tasting and paddle boarding.

So many different travelers are catered for without the experience feeling impersonal, and the amenities are top-notch, from the multiple pools and 18-hole golf course to the games room and fitness center. Adventurers, foodies, families or wellness seekers, everybody´s happy at the Four Seasons!

The Four Seasons adheres to the Papagayo Peninsula´s 70% natural requirements, a regulation meaning that resorts must blend in with the natural landscape in order to reduce disturbance to wildlife and the nature it inhabits.

The property has reduced its use of plastic considerably, replacing plastic bottles in guest rooms with glass bottles that are sterilized and then re-used, removing plastic straws from all its restaurants, and installing water refill stations all over the property to encourage guests to use personal water bottles. Waste is also recycled, with organic waste going to a compost farm where it's used to feed the pigs.

Aside from environmental efforts, the resort is concerned about its social impact and has partnered up with ´Creciendo Juntos´ (Growing Together), a local charity project that strives to empower residents in 19 Guanacaste communities through increased access to health, education, and training. Additionally, guests can take part in projects during their stay such as coral restoration clean-ups (accompanied by a divemaster), school outreach programs, and tree reforestation. Visitors can also make donations that will go towards providing local school supplies and supporting families in the area.
