Ideal For: romance in paradise, sustainable hotel, nature views

Kura is the brainchild of Biologist and Architect couple, Ale and Mark, who fell in love with spectacular views from a mountaintop in Uvita. We´re crazy about Kura´s location and the vision it took to design a hotel that expresses romance while showcasing intelligent luxury travel. Sensational 180° nature views, double hammocks, and private infinity plunge pools grace open-plan villas with floating beds.

Solar panels power the hotel, greens come from its organic garden, and teak wood features throughout as a natural, fast growing building material. Kura is chic and tropical with just the right amount of glamour - we couldn´t get enough!

Kura is a proud member of Cayuga Collection of Sustainable Luxury Hotels & Lodges, an award-winning group known for cutting-edge leadership in environmentally friendly practices and green technology.

Guests can take an eye-opening tour of the resort to see its green operations, community support projects, and nature conservation in action. Kura uses fast-growing teak wood around the property, chlorine-free pool water, fully biodegradable cleaning products, strictly no plastic (reusable bottles available!), and solar panel-heated water. Wastewater is purified onsite for garden irrigation, plus there´s an onsite organic greenhouse and Japanese Takakura composting system that provide organic herbs and veggies for the restaurant.

For Kura, ensuring the environment and community´s happiness is key to sustainable hospitality, operateing around the concept of ´local´. The hotel´s exclusively Costa Rican staff has opportunities for professional growth and access to company healthcare, while the restaurant´s food, minibar stock, spa and bathroom products all come from nearby. Expanding its outreach to the community, the property hosts seminars in town and schools on how to keep local ecosystems healthy as well as working with a non-profit organization to support a school in Uvita town, where guest donations go towards infrastructure and teaching materials.
