Sustainability efforts at Nayara Gardens continue to grow, with practices and programs in place that protect the environment and benefit local communities.
Most of the property´s staff is from the neighboring town of La Fortuna de San Carlos, who receive free transportation, sustainable tourism education, health services, and free early education for their children.
The property has overseen the planting of thousands of Guarumo trees, providing a safe habitat for sloths. After being cut down by the previous owner, Nayara has slowly replanted native species in the forest that welcome animals like monkeys and birds.
Energy-conserving light bulbs and lighting systems are utilized, as well as water-conserving faucets and towels. With the goal of becoming a single-use plastic free resort, Nayara has replaced plastic water bottles with glass reusable bottles in villas, eliminated plastic straws, and recycles plastic and cartons.
