Nayara Springs

La Fortuna, Northern Region

This tropical hideaway is tucked into the rainforest at the bottom of Arenal volcano. Think scenes dripping with luscious tropical flora at pretty much every turn, spotting sloths on the way to breakfast, and sipping sunset cocktails at the swim-up bar. Ā

Nayara SpringsĀ“ villas are wrapped with jungle, featuring secluded private terraces with mineral-rich plunge pools fed by hot springs, and dual outdoor rain showers. Enjoy the sounds of birds and crickets in the evening from indoor and outdoor living space, or even from your four-poster bed.

Ideal For: adults-only, rainforest immersion, romance in nature

This has to be one of the best honeymoon spots! ItĀ“s adults-only (which is rare in Costa Rica) with spacious accommodations hidden away amongst rainforest leaves and private plunge pools in every villa for a relaxing mineral soak. We enjoyed the varied dining options that all offer something different, from al fresco wood-fired pizzas and a volcano view at Mis Amores, to a 7-course experience at Amor Loco, with its deep purple velvet seats and Victorian dark wood. A bonus at Nayara Springs is that youĀ“ll have access to the facilities at neighboring sister properties, Nayara Tented Camp and Nayara Gardens ā€“ that means more options for swimming pools, dining venues, and wellness centers!

Nayara Springs strives to maintain a light footprint on its pristine surroundings, building two pedestrian bridges hanging over the forest canopy to protect the trees and wildlife below. The hotel has been rewarded the Costa Rican governmentā€™s coveted Four Leaves Award for Sustainability for its efforts and for endorsing the four tenets of sustainability.

Sustainable and renewable buildings were built, and the land topography means that rooms could be smartly orientated to maximize the effects of sunlight and ventilation, minimizing the need for air conditioning and heating. The property uses energy-conserving light bulbs and lighting systems, in addition to water-conserving faucets and towels.

The majority of the Nayara Springs team comes from the neighboring town of La Fortuna de San Carlos and has access to free transportation, sustainable tourism education, and health services. Some additional local initiatives include free early education for employeesā€™ children, volunteer time, financial support to Hogarcito de Ninos, a local orphanage, and support for local artists.
